Ad for o.b. menstrual tampon, France, 1989
The Saatchi & Saatchi
agency, with headquarters in
London, created this great ad for
o.b. tampons, which appeared in
December 1989.
The top part says,"The tampon
adopted by the majority of women
in Europe." The French, as well as
many other Europeans, write large
numbers with "." marking off the
thousands, rather than the ","
used in America. Thus the word
"o.b." is altered to indicate a
very large number. Clever, no?
Do you know what o.b. means? Ha,
that's what YOU think! See German
and Dutch
ads for variations on the truth.
