Very Personally
Yours (Kotex, Kimberly-Clark
Corporation)
puberty & menstruation booklet for
girls, 1981, U.S.A.
Below:
P. 18. This is the only booklet I
remember giving two
pronunciations of menstruation.
An earlier
Kotex booklet offered just one, the
usual case.
|
Below:
P. 19. Strange: they list clitoris
(with added information, neutral
but provocative), hymen, but not vulva,
that often missing word naming the
only thing
girls and women usually see
between their legs, even though it
lists labia.
It's as if a booklet for boys
didn't give a name for the penis.
Oh, well, maybe the company
figured there were enough slang names
for it . . . . Speaking of names,
see some for
menstruations.
