Front cover. You'll note that the
smiling woman is ultra feminine -
aw, isn't she cute in that get up
(and it's white!)? Tampons, etc.,
are from the feminine
products industry, after all. The
ad's impact would be different if
a short-haired 200-pound woman,
scarred and bleeding from the
mouth, were here instead. The
industry tries very hard to attach
femininity and daintiness to its
products to counteract the very
basic and messy and for many women
unpleasant reality. Especially in
countries where sweat
and actual human odors are
anathema - the U.S.A.,
for instance.
