Violet Page douche & menstruation supplies, patent medicine and
health books, U.S.A. 1920s-1930s?
In the past hundred years catalogs in America and Europe sold women
cures for their "female problems" (see some pages from the Sears catalog and a German
catalog from 1933). The Internet has partly taken over that duty today.
Women could buy a huge variety of patent medicine (here
and here), including from the very successful
Mrs. Lydia Pinkham, some of which was to prevent
babies in an era - most of the 20th century - when this was illegal. (Sponges could also kill sperm when used with the right
addition.)
This page, probably from a catalog, shows a typical selection of remedies
for distress that doctors had trouble curing. Many of the remedies would
be discouraged today as they possibly contained harmful chemicals or destroyed
necessary bacteria in the vagina.

the front and back of the page, probably from a catalog.

The black and white paper page measures 7 x 14" (17.6 x 35.5 cm).
