Sanitary panties and menstrual pad belts (1946-47, U.S.A.)

This page from the American Sears, Roebuck Fall-Winter catalog of 1946-47 shows the variety of "sanitary" (menstrual) panties and belts to hold menstrual pads available to women; different styles appeared later. Almost all of these disappeared in the early 1970s, when self-adhesive sanitary napkins appeared (see New Freedom and Stayfree), much to the relief of most women.
