Did the word dainty
and its variations in menstrual
and "feminine hygiene" advertising
start their long career right here
? (See an ad from September 1921
for the booklet Personal
Daintiness from "Mrs.
Barton," a woman - the first? - in
a long list of representatives of
companies selling such things to
women. And see the Daintette
menstrual cup.)
The Wallace Meyer archive at the
State Historical Society of
Wisconsin has a proof of this ad;
printed at the bottom of the ad is
"Copy No. 4," probably meaning
that it is the fourth ad in the
first Kotex series. Someone wrote
on the proof - was it Wallace
Meyer? - that Henry Raleigh
illustrated it.
