Below: P. 3.
I think this is a COLOSSAL ERROR: FORWARD
instead of undoubtedly intended FOREWORD,
the usual designation for a brief statement at the beginning of a long text.
They got it RIGHT
in the 1966 booklet.
You could argue that the company wittily intends to move
knowledge FORWARD! Da Da!,
throwing convention away. But nothing here is revolutionary, neither Tampax
(but it was in the 1930s)
nor the information offered nor the way it's presented. I think it's just
a mistake.
I once worked in the Office of the Chief of Public Affairs for the U.S. Army in the Pentagon.
During that time,
the title of an article in its worldwide internal monthly newsletter contained
the words PUBIC AFFAIRS.
Probably five sets of eyes had proofed it including mid-level Army officers.
Yes, minds do wander when sitting
in a grimy, drab room with 20 people of both sexes flirti-, er, flitting
about.
There's some irony in the name of the creators
of the booklet: Lifelong Learning Systems, Inc.
Did they, um, learn from this?
