About the right-hand page: when the museum
was in my house I mounted on a wall a cup containing
containing colored plaster (if I remember right) showing an average amount
of blood
loss during a period. A Seventeen magazine reporter attended the
museum opening (in 1994) and
later suggested in the magazine that I had used real menstrual blood. Also
at the opening was
a reporter from the Washington Post (now at the Wall Street Journal),
who had heard about the museum from the publishing
grapevine in New York. She told me a photographer from the Post would
visit me the next week.
Never happened. He probably met the fate another Post reporter almost met
the next year; she did write
a story about MUM for the Post's style section but only after much
grief from her boss. Those were the days.

Bible, part of a papyrus
about tampons and a page from an early 20th century
American booklet about menstruation being a sick time.
