THE MUSEUM OF MENSTRUATION AND WOMEN'S HEALTH

Sponges for contraception - birth control - and absorbing menstrual discharge

See the first sponge page for a general discussion.

Thanks very much for this sponge to the retired teacher who has contributed much information and many items to the museum!

Below: The metal sponge case measures 1.75" (4.4 cm) in diameter and is 1" (2.5 cm) thick,
basically the same as the other sponge cans. Not imaging the cover straight on produced
the lopsided left and center images; the design is actually symmetrical.

It might date from the first half of the 20th century and seems American.

Below: The sponge sits in the case; the inside of the top is at right. It probably
looks very much like the unfurled sponge on the introductory page.

NEXT: Beautiful (Australian?) sponge can with sponge lacking a net.
