The Cuban artist writes (the
English follows the Spanish),
Hola, mi nombre es Mayra Alpízar,
soy artista textil, cubana y
trabajo el tema de género desde hace
muchos años. He descubierto el sitio
de vuestro Museo muy recientemente y
me parece fantástica, extraordinaria
y bellísima la existencia de un
lugar como ese. Escribo muy poco y
mal en inglés, por eso lo hago
en español y ruego me disculpen.

obras que les adjunto son:

Cuando dejé de menstruar sentí
mucha nostalgia y tristeza, creo que
nos pasa a todas las mujeres.
Sabemos que ya no somos fértiles y
que cerramos ese ciclo hermoso de la
vida, entonces concebí esta obra. Le
pedí a una amiga que es muy
organizada y más jóven que yo, que
me prestara su calendario menstrual
de ese año y accedió encantada
cuando supo para qué lo utilizaría.
Me gustaría mucho si estas obras que
les envío pudieran formar parte de
su colección.

When I stopped menstruating I
felt much nostalgia and sadness. I
believe that happens to all women.
We know that we are no longer
fertile and that we closed that
beautiful cycle of life - it was
then that I conceived this work.
"I asked a friend who is very
organized and younger than I if
she would lend me her menstrual
calendar for that year, and she
loved it when I told her what I
would be using it for." "I would
like it a lot if these works could
be part of the collection.
